Crystal clear

The great master plan by Bromley council in south London to turn the historic Crystal Palace site into a giant multiplex was scrapped last year [actually May 2001 - Ed.] after fierce protests, but the affair lingers on. The European Commission has now demanded that the environmental impact survey which Bromley and the government deemed not necessary be carried out on the principle that the public should have known what was going on, and must in future receive information and be consulted on the impact of such projects.
